Banahaw, Banahaw

I promised to post pictures of Mt. Banahaw. Here they are. I was lucky to have talented photographers with me during the trip, so we have very good pictures.

Here’s a photo of one of the many waterfalls of the mountain. We trekked across rocks and water to get here:

Here are shots of the stream that flows from the mountain:

Beautiful, isn’t it?

There is something about the mountain. Just being there refreshes the mind and soothes the spirit. It was my first time to drink pure water straight from the earth. And each time I took a dip in the water, I felt like I didn’t want to get out.

I wasn’t able to visit all the sites to see, though. They say it takes more three days to get to know the mountain. I am definitely going back there. :)

Feeling better

At last I am feeling better! I’ve been throwing up since Sunday night. When I finally stopped puking yesterday, diarrhea took over. The only food I could take in were oatmeal, bread, and soups, and I’d throw these up again. It was terrible. I think I lost several pounds in 3 days.

One of my housemates said maybe I got a case of food poison. I can’t remember eating anything spoiled or close to it, though (unless I was poisoned intentionally? But bah, I am not that paranoid.) An officemate said I must have offended a spirit in the mountain. I’m not sure about that. I trust the people I went with, and I know they did what was needed to keep me safe.

The doctor diagnosed me with dyspepsia and gerd, but that was before I started having loose bowel movement. Diagnoses change whenever there’s a new and different symptom, right? (This is what I get for watching House too much). I wasn’t able to go back to the doctor because I was already very weak.

People kept telling me that I should probably be confined at the hospital (When I went in to see the doctor last Tuesday, I still had strength left, so I guess that’s why she didn’t send me to the hospital) but I kept procrastinating. :D I didn’t like the thought of a dextrose being inserted into my vein (or should it be into the artery?).

I can eat a few mouthfuls of rice now, so I guess I am okay, and there’s no need to be confined. :D

Going up the sacred mountain

I am raring to go to Mt. Banahaw. I just found myself counting the hours ’til 3:55 a.m. Friday, my flight to Manila. Haha.

I have been wanting to go there ever since I heard from a classmate what a nice place it is. They say it is a beautiful place. I admit, I have been bitten by the travel bug. And since I am young and free, what better time to see the world?

Honestly, I didn’t know where Banahaw exactly was until a few minutes ago. (After a quick Google search, I found out that it is on the boundary of Laguna and Quezon). All I knew was that it was the home of soul-searchers and healers.

Oh well.. 36 more hours before my flight!
